Crafting Your Own Beauty Elixir – DIY Facial Toner Inspired by Queen of Hungary’s Water.

Embarking on a transformative journey of self-care, I, Kandace Ballard, founder of Lady KB Bath and Body, believe in the power of crafting skincare tailored to meet my unique needs. For years, especially in my 20s, doctors advised me to cease using certain skincare products due to lifelong skin sensitivity. Stubborn and unwilling, it was not until I experienced issues in my mid-to-late 30s that I realized the clock was ticking. Acknowledging the damage caused in my younger years catching up with me, I could see it on my face. This marked the beginning of my journey towards cleaner self-care. Though I had been a runner and cared about my physical well-being, I had never taken the time to care for my internal body or the largest organ in the body – the skin!

Now, my goal is to share my creations with everyone, not just the ones available for sale on our website but also things you can do at home. This blog post focuses on how to create your own wonderful facial toner.

Before we unveil our simple DIY facial toner recipe, let's delve into the fascinating history of the Queen of Hungary's Water.

The Royal Origins of Queen of Hungary’s Water: Transport yourself to the enchanting 1300s, a time when the Queen of Hungary, with an unwavering determination to preserve her youthful allure, sought the expertise of an alchemist. This alchemical collaboration birthed the extraordinary Queen of Hungary's Water – a legendary elixir woven into the tapestry of a timeless beauty tale. Imbued with the secrets of the alchemist's craft, this regal tonic became a symbol of ageless radiance, capturing the essence of a bygone era in every drop.

Known Information from Modern Day Facial Benefits: As we explore the benefits of facial toners, scientific studies support key ingredients:

· Hyaluronic Acid for Hydration: Studies highlight hyaluronic acid's ability to boost skin moisture and firmness.

· Salicylic Acid for Acne Prevention: Research confirms salicylic acid's effectiveness in reducing acne lesions.

· Chamomile for Soothing Effects: Studies suggest chamomile's anti-inflammatory properties, making it beneficial for sensitive skin.

· Witch Hazel for Astringent Properties: While specific studies on witch hazel toners may be limited, research highlights its potential anti-inflammatory effects.

More on Witch Hazel: Witch hazel, derived from the bark and leaves of the Hamamelis virginiana plant, is renowned for its astringent properties. It acts as a gentle, natural cleanser, helping to remove excess oil and impurities from the skin. Beyond its astringency, witch hazel contains compounds with anti-inflammatory properties, providing a soothing and calming effect. Often used as a natural toning agent, witch hazel helps tighten and tone the skin, reducing the appearance of pores and promoting a smoother complexion. Rich in antioxidants, witch hazel can assist in protecting the skin from environmental damage and oxidative stress.

While the available scientific studies on witch hazel are not as extensive as those for some other ingredients, its historical use and anecdotal evidence highlight its potential benefits.

Note: As with any skincare ingredient, it's advisable to conduct a patch test and consult skincare professionals for personalized advice. This information is not FDA-approved; it's based on general knowledge up to January 2022. Always consult skincare professionals for the latest advice.

Our Journey to Clean Facial Toner: In pursuit of greater control and understanding, we ventured into crafting formulations inspired by the Queen of Hungary's Water. Traditional recipes for Queen of Hungary Water commonly feature ingredients like apple cider vinegar, rosemary, mint, lavender, chamomile, calendula, lemon peel, and orange peel. Our unique hybrid recipe, detailed below, incorporates witch hazel, essential oils such as lavender and frankincense, along with other natural elements.

Kandace’s Facial Toner – a Hybrid DIY Recipe Inspired by the Queen of Hungary’s Water:

· 8 oz Witch Hazel

· 2 drops Sandalwood Essential Oil

· 2 drops Rose Hip Essential Oil

· 1 drop Orange Essential Oil

· 2 drops Lemon Essential Oil

· 2 drops Lime Essential Oil

· 3 drops Lavender Essential Oil (adjust to preference)

· 2 drops Myrrh Essential Oil

· 2 drops Frankincense Essential Oil

· Desired amount of Vitamin E Oil

Application: Pour into a misting bottle. It's essential to shake before each use because this is a cleaner version; there is no emulsifier or preservatives, and the oils will separate. Apply with an exfoliant cotton pad after washing your face, and follow with your skincare routine.

Note on Witch Hazel: Ensure your selected product aligns with your commitment to clean and natural skincare. Not all witches’ hazels are created equal. Some parabens can be found in some.

Conclusion:

We hope Queens of Hungary’s Water inspires you to craft your unique beauty elixir.
